fencing to keep out deer

I would like to know what kind of luck, or unluckiness as the case may be, anyone has had with keeping deer out of your garden/yard using 6ft tall privacy fencing? I know deer can jump much higher than that, but I have been told that they do not like to jump over things they cannot see the other side of. So I was thinking at 6 ft tall and solid, they would not readily be able to see over it and may not jump it. Thoughts? I hate deer lol they are eating my new bushes. I planted some plum/cherry bushes and they are eating them off -much like a weedeater lol
