Caught this guy on a telephone pole in Kissimmee Florida, can anyone identify? The white background is a slightly adjusted photo.
Thanks in advance!
CLOSED: Is this a Marsh Hawk, maybe an Osprey?
Definitely not an Osprey...
I think you may be right with 'Marsh Hawk', Northern Harrier. A male.
What a beauty!
A Buteo, not sure which one, maybe juvenile Red-shouldered. Any pics showing its tail pattern?
Resin
Thanks Resin,
He wouldn't turn around for me, so I couldn't get any tail feather detail.
Thanks Tim,
I'm going to keep an eye out for him and see if I can get some better pics. These were on a pretty long telephoto.
I agree that those tail feathers could certainly pinpoint a lot.
Thought that you must have quite a good lens to get such a good pic. Those poles are way up there! So to speak. :-)
Yes, I'd say Resin had it nailed. Probably a Juvenile…Definitely NOT the Marsh Hawk which would have a white spot at the base of the tail, and also would be a little more grayish, if a male…What a gorgeous bird!
