I went to the Fielder House butterfly garden this morning, it was sprinkling and the Texas sage was in it's glory.
This is the first time it has bloomed this year, but Wow! what a show!!
The Amazing Everblooming Texas Sage.
Um then its not really everblooming is it? It sure is pretty now though and I know the bees love it.
That is right Cheryl, this year it hasn't lived up to it's name, something strange is going on.
We don't even have many bees or butterflies, this is a very odd year.
I do see the bees, you are lucky.
Last year they were absent here, this year has been pretty good, especially for the native bees.
I have a feeling that the mosquito spraying has a lot to do with it, but it is such a dilemma, we can't risk the west nile virus so here we are.
It is awful to think its killing bees but no one wants to contract that virus.
I usually have hundreds of bees this time of year but I'm not seeing any at all. They haven't sprayed here but I'm afraid that the big farms are using lots of GM seeds around me. I don't use any chemical pesticides or herbicides so it's pretty scary.
Sorry to hear that, what will we do without bees?
We will be in big trouble without them, I hope it all changes soon. Even the Robins are very scarce, we had lots of them on the Poke weed last year, but I have only seen two or three this year.
Wow! Morgan, that is soooo beautiful. Is that the plant that in music and writings about Texas is called "sagebrush"? Please post these photos in Plantfiles. The are just awesome.
I think thats actually a Salvia.
Gorgeous!!
