My friend Ann took this photo in her backyard in Wallingford, CT on July 16, 2013. The bird seems to be a baby, about 6" tall.
CLOSED: Please help me identify this bird!
Cedar Waxwing; yep, a newly fledged youngster
Resin
I don't think so. Look at the shape of the head.
The head - particularly the crest - isn't full-grown yet. It has the yellow tail tip and black face mask.
Resin
I think those are actually the ends of its legs.
Would someone else please weigh in on this?
Hi maryheff, I think Resin is correct. The tip of the tail kind of made me think Cedar Waxwing as well.
Check this link that I came across…scroll down just a bit, and compare pics.

Waxwing
I think adult Cedar Waxwings are a nice looking bird.
I wouldn't have recognized their homely baby.
maryheff, it looks to be unanimous…We all agree…It seems…Cedar Waxwing.
Thank you, Tim. Donald's photo did it for me.
