Dinnertime!!

Albany, ME(Zone 4b)

I'd like to start a new thread, similar to "What's for dinner," except that this one would be restricted to posts about food. What's for Dinner has developed into a very friendly chatty sort of thread, and I wouldn't want to try to disrupt that, but I find I don't go there anymore because I have to check out so many non-food back and forths to find out what folks are having for dinner. :-)

So, if you're interested in what folks across the country are having for dinner, but don't particularly want to make new friends while your at it, please respond here.

To get us started I have to report that today is one of my "don't eat" days. I try to skip eating once a week. It seems to work to keep me from gaining weight.

Last night, however, was our 46th anniversary, so we went to Legal Seafoods. I had arctic char with cheppinad spices (don't know what's actually in them), jalapeno cheese polenta, and seaweed salad. The latter is a favorite of both me and my hubby, probably because of a very nice soy/sesame sauce. Off to wander Harvard Square and find coffee and a great banana rum bread pudding to split.

The last thing I cooked was a chef salad. We eat mainly chef salads starting in May (garden in Maine, not Massachusetts). I plant beds of seeds, and we eat out of them from thinning up to bolting. I mix beans and protein (meat or cheese) and onions with other veggies like carrots and peppers, pour dressing over that and have folks put it on their own serving of lettuce. This way I don't end up with soggy leftovers. After spending the time to wash the large harvests of lettuce, and chop up largish bowls of topping, the next few nights are work free!!!
