This is a Swallow that came to visit a week and a half before the little Tree Swallows fledged. It landed on the box while mom had gone in with food. Is this just another female Tree Swallow or possibly a Northern Rough-winged? It seems lighter than our female.
Once the male came back, he chased off the intruder like he did any bird that landed on his box.
Thank you for your help.

Yep, Northern Rough-winged Swallow is right!

Oh, wonderful! That is a new yard bird for us! This makes the fifth Swallow species to come to our place.
Thank you again!
