Mesilla Park, NM

Looking to trade for pitcherii , crispa, or any small natives. I will have seeds for this unknown small flowered. Hope someone has seeds for a fall trade. I also have a few seeds on roogouchie maybe one trade of that since I want to plant a couple of seeds myself.

Thank you for looking.

Hello Antoinette,I am enjoying looking at your smaller clematis. I have perhaps two small structured integrifolia types that from the NARGS this is the second year and I do not know if I can expect blooms this year. I will send you pics when they do and I should know more about their growth Best regards Lee .

Thank you Lee, they are so soothing to the eye. I did find out that one there is pitcherii, and I have seed pods on both the pitcherii and the roogouchie . These took three years to bloom, one pitcherii still has not bloomed. I didn't know I had pitcherii..

Please post photos of yours, you may get one or two blooms this year.

I really like the smaller nodding types.

Antoinette -
I love the integrifolias - what is the pink one in your photo? I really like it.

I have some of the nodding clematis too - I didn't start mine from seed, but I will watch for the seeds to form on mine to send to you. Truthfully, I haven't paid too much attention to the seeds on my integrifolias, but I will keep an eye out for seeds on them.

The first one is Fascination. Then Hendryetta and the third one is Hakuree. I did put in a pink one last year, which hasn't flowered yet. I am hoping to see flowers this year.

Lee - how are you? Wet enough for you? I don't think we have had one day without rain.

Hi Carolyn ,
That one I purchased as c. Pitcherii in the photo up above, it is a lot lighter than the one I had in California that a friend from Tx had sent as pitcherii . I had expected the color to a really dark blue , this one looks like a raspberry color, it is really attractive. It may be a cross with crispa.

I also have one Pricess Diana that doesn't make seeds, it could be yours may not form seeds either, I don't know that all Clem's produce seed. I sure hope your plants do.... I really like those in your post, very nice. Let me know if you get seeds and let me know if you want some of mine. I don't have any idea how long they take to bloom from seed.

I will keep an eye for seeds and let you know what I happens. I know that John 'timeinabottle' has grown clematis from seed. They can take a year or more to germinate. I think you are looking at probably 2 years beyond that for flowers, but I think you will also get different clematis than what is available for sale. John, if you are lurking, please let us know how your seedlings have been doing.

Have you ever looked at Brian Collingwood's studies regarding clematis and growing them from seed? Check it out - his studies are quite extensive.

Oh my goodness, this is exactly the information I am needing. A couple of the seeds are starting ti turn brown, so I can start documenting my planting s and progress. Thank you for posting this site.

I also ordered a couple more plants, all small nodding crispa crosses I believe,

Crispa New Hope
Princess Red
Myofuku

They most likely wont bloom for a year or two from now, but it is something to look forward to. I hope you get seeds on your plants, they are gorgeous.

I have lots of Princess Diana, Odoriba and Josie Midnight Blue if you want. I cut the vines this weekend but the seed heads look intact

Hi bananna18,

I certainly would love to get some seeds from you. Check to see if there are any seeds in those cute fluffy heads, they almost look like fat little tadpoles with a tail. Here are my attempts at saving and guarding the seeds from the birds till they mature and turn brown .

Princess Diana here has not made any seeds at all and what I have are seed heads or fluff without seeds. I don't know the technical terms for these parts.. But here goes the photos I just took.

I hope you have some seeds and I would definitely be wanting some of either one you have.. They are beautiful ..

HI, I don't have seed-set on my 'Princess Diana' either. I have also crossed and cheesecloth covered crossed 'Princes Diana' with 'Betty Corning' and unknown to me an Nargs seed fund unnamed. It is at 5 feet and heavy flowering with a light purple 3 inch re curve flowers with a ridge on the back appearing darker on the front.I will send pics pronto.I will seeds as best I can. Good luck ans good gardening for all. Lee p.s. Carolyn, My early cl ems. have been spectacular until the big rains I lost many, many blossoms to fungus, ear wigs and slugs, even with preventive measures. How did you do? I hope your Husband is feeling o.k. now. Lee

Good looking plant there, I have not seen any Clem's that big in person. In the plant files it says that princess Diana is steril, so the best bet is to cross it with some crips or another texinas . Thank you for posting lee.

Beautiful clem. I had one similar to that several years ago that I lost.

Funny how the rains were such a nuisance previously and now we would love to have the rains back, isn't it? Or at least that is how I feel.

Thank you for the well wishes for Dave. We just were in Allentown and have to have more testing. Seems like this is never ending.

I have been watching my nodding clems and some maybe setting seeds. Time will tell. I have recently cut back some of my type 3 climbers in hopes of getting another flush of flowers.
