Hello! Some English sparrows have moved into my neighborhood this year. I spent the spring trying to protect the bluebirds' nest and a cardinal's nest from them, and I boarded up and stored away any birdhouses they tried to nest in. The bluebirds successfully raised their babies, but I have not seen them since then (about two months). I am heartbroken about this, since we have had several generations of bluebirds in our yard for years - they even overwinter in our yard. I have also not seen the cardinals we have had for years. The sparrows remain.
How can I get rid of them? I have heard there is a sparrow trap, usually used on martin houses. Could I catch them and relocate them? If so, how far away would I need to transport them? We must have about 8, I'm guessing. I can always hear them in the trees throughout the day.
Any advice would be very appreciated!
Erica

There is an old thread about this problem, but do not have the link for it right away.
Thanks very much!
