I'm in the process of pulling up stakes in order to spend a majority of the summer in Vermont with my daughter and family, getting to do the Granma thing with Grandsons 7 and 2.
My emotions are all over the place as I make my preps and planning so any 'support' or wisdom or wishes from you all are much appreciated.
I hope this thread will be a place to list my plant babies that need new homes and to share this transition with you all.
Decisions, decisions decisions.

Coleup: Your move sounds very exciting indeed! I'm looking forward to hearing the details.
Coleup, I'd love a Poukhanense azalea! Those pictures online are so pretty.
And also a Girard's Renne Michelle.
I'd love a weeping JM since I only have uprights right now. I couldn't tell if your virdis was an upright or a weeper.
What does FI clematis mean? Could a clematis newbie bring it back to health?
Judy if you need any help packing or moving, give me a shout.
Judy--
Somehow--I have missed the fact that you are, actually moving to VT.
Will you come back--or is this permanent???
How big are the Blueberry bushes you have? What kind.?
It is my daughter's favorite fruit. If they are well under way--I would like to have a couple.
Any directives would be appreciated....neither of us has grown one before.
I know they need acid soil--and bird netting....:o)
I know Aina will bitch about not having a place to plant it (just like MOM)--but i will go and
help her dig up any small area needed.
EVERYTHING grows well in her clay-y soil there...Puts my garden to shame. I kid you not!
She only rents--but has become quite the gardener in the last 3 years.
Let me know, Judy... Thanks, Gita
I am excited for your opportunity to spend more time with the grandies!!!!!! When the time comes I would like to help also.
Judy, are you looking for cold hardy plants to take with you? A lot of those sedums are probably hardy enough for VT.
Judy if you have weeping JM's I'm interested. I'll also look through your other left overs.
You are very brave for making the move and you will be glad when its all done. Take it a step at a time.
We will all be here for you on DG forever.
I will read up on some of those items- will probably take some but letting others with known wants go first.
Thanks everyone!
There is sooooo much on my heart and mind right now that I also wish to share, but I am also relieved to be 'busy' with parting out plants!
Some are easy to let go, others I am grieving the ending of my 'dream garden' by bits and pieces and my long Springs on the Chesapeake. My tropicals have been fun, but I can let them go, My JMs and Azaleas are a different story and come to you all with 'visitation' privileges! Well, at least reports and pictures!
For now, I need more takers of tropicals!
Later (Yea Paul!) I'll need diggers of shrubs and overgrown bushes. There is a lovely red bud tree growing in my ditch out front that won't make it thru the winter where it is with only 3-4 inches of soil over asphalt. It has a volunteer mimosa tree growing beneath it. And I'm sure there will be ferns and Bleeding Hearts and Hosta, too. Sigh...
Here is an update on the Azaleas/Rhodies.
There are three requests for Rosebud (It is cute, just like its name) Probably should go to Critter since she is really waving her hand if Donner and Happy would be ok with something else? I've left 'Roseum' as a substitution possibility (also requested by Critter) and Fashion is also nice. I'll let you all sort it out!
Azaleas/Rhodos ($4 each )
Weston Hybrids:
PJM (4) - Critter 1
PJM Elite(4) - Critter 1
Olga Mezzitt (4+) - Critter 2 or 3
Weston Aglo (4) - Critter 2 or 3
Other:
Nova Zembia (3) - Donner 1 Critter 2
Boursault (3) - Critter 1
Pouchanense (2) - SS 1 Critter 1
Roseum (1) Critter
Minitonka (1) Happy or Critter
Chinides (1) Happy or Critter
Girards Hot Shot (1) -
Girards Rene Michele (2) - SS 1
Fashion (2)
Rosebud (1) Critter "must have"
Thanks to everyone the above all have new homes!

Judy---
What if some of the people taking your plants just baby sat them until you return?
Especially your tropicals (does that mean houseplants?)
Is your move permanent? You are doing such a clean sweep....
Wayne could water all your plants--no?
I am sad for you too--if i had to do all that--I would go nuts.
Gita
Judy, I think you should look forward to the companionship and interest that you grandsons will have in their grandma's new gardens now that she is near them. One of my grandsons (6 years old) has started gardening with my since I travel there ofter to baby sit him and his baby brother. He actually sends me letters about the progress in his garden!! He digs, plants, fertilizes and waters on a regular schedule with no prompting, and is delighted when thing grow and bloom. At Christmas time there was a sale in his school for $1.00 per item. He bought me a bag of Potpourri because he though that it was some kind of fertilizer.
I'm sure that you will enjoy teaching and sharing all your knowledge to the boys!!
Judy, I am ok with not having the Rosebud. White's has it. I will just go buy one from there. Thank you.
Judy, Are you beginning to have "empty nest" feeling yet? I'm sure many of your loved ones have found a home with their adoptive DGers.
Judy: Many thanks for bringing all those plants! It will be a beauteous spring when the rhododendrons bloom, and we will all think of you when that happens. But Vermont isn't so far away....
Yea, verily!!!
Feeling freer and lighter and more ready to take my show on the road than I have felt in a long time.
Thank you every one for doing your part with such joy and enthusiasm! It is truly infecctious and so heartening. You've helped turn what was a burden and embarrassment into 'a good thing' W
Whee, happy summer. The journey continues.
Hooray for good things!!! Our gardens are enriched because of your willingness to let us take care of your babies.
I for one am excited for you to learn about a new planting zone to see what you come up with.
And, Of course, you will still be with us here on DG. Right??
It will be just like you are here......almost. WHEN is your actual departure date?
Has wayne decided to come along yet?
Just like Becky checking in whenever she can.
I know how hard this is on you--but you are NOT, exactly, dropping off the edge of the World!
...My Ex always used to say: "The World is coming to the edge!!!"
Keep in touch, love! Send pictures--of your daughter too.
Gita
I'll be updating this thread with what will be available for the Fall swap at Sallyg s. Many of the above found new homes at Casual Thursday and then there are all the rest!
Definitely some larges JMs and some EE Black Stem (Elena EE is spoken for) and an Ensete banana. And whatever has survived my absence.
Maybe I can do a Preview for anyone interested in rehoming my plants/bushes/trees the morning of the Fall Swap since I am only 10 miles from Sally.
Judy
