I have been trying to replace mine ever since I lost it 2 years ago, but no one in this country has it for sale. It was listed a couple of places, but both said it wasn't in stock this year. Why not? It's one of my favorite alpine plants and one of my favorite plants altogether. It's commonly available in the British Isles and Europe, but is supposed to be tricky to propagate from seed. I think I tried unsuccessfully once with my own seed.
My trade list is way out of date, but please check it. I have A LOT of perennials, especially for shade, and a lot more than what's listed, so let me know what you're looking for. Will happily trade several plants for a decent sized plant - say 3" x 3" or so.
Also looking for geranium "Orkney Cherry".

I just put an Orkney Cherry Geranium in last year so it's still on the small side. I had a heck of time finding one. I got mine from Garden Harvest Supply but I just checked and they don't have Orkney Cherry listed right now. I love mine - nice new leaf color and mine bloomed all summer and fall until frost last year. Not sure if that was because I had just planted it in the spring, or as I'm hoping, it will do that every year.
Perhaps someone else here has a piece for trade, or you can search the web for a nursery who sells them. Good luck.

Thanks, Linda. One of my fairly local nurseries had ordered Orkney Cherry, but so far it hasn't arrived with other geraniums that came in. I expect I could find one mail order, but I'd rather not do mail order for just 1 plant or a few, and I don't have room right now to order much more than that. I don't understand why some of the best perennials are so hard to find. Orkney Cherry is one of the very few perennial geraniums that keeps on flowering all season (I actually don't know of any others), not to mention the lovely small bronzey leaves and profusion of flowers. Enjoy - and I hope yours lasts longer than the 2 years I had mine. You might want to try to root a bit of yours and plant it in another place, so that if one fails, you might still have another to carry on.

Hi Sharon,
So I can expect Orkney Cherry to keep blooming all season - that's great. I bought it because of it's size. I had a "species" Cranesbill given to me by a neighbor in that spot and it got too big and overtook a large area. And it self seeded everywhere. So far, Orkeny Cherry has stayed petite and everblooming. I hope that mine lasts longer than two years though. Thank you for the advice regarding it! And good luck in getting yours.
Linda
Thanks, Linda. And I don't think Orkney Cherry produces viable seed, so you don't have to worry about it going crazy. That could be why it keeps on flowering - the job is never done.
