What is this tall thing?

Burleson, TX(Zone 8a)

This is right in my tree line pretty close to the house, but I've never noticed it. It's 3-4 feet high (and I'm sure it's common, and everybody else knows it. lol)

It looks like Goldenrod, I need a closer picture to be able to tell for sure.

It is Goldenrod...beautiful in the right place and a great butterfly plants...however, can be very invasive...

Shush, don't tell Sybil about the prolific part, she will get rid of it.

Oops...sorry...

There is a fine line between "easy to care for" and "invasive/prolific". Prolific, in the right place, is great!

LOL..yep...the whole tomato tomato thing...I love it when my salvia coccinea is 'invasive...and can't stand it when my vitex is NOT! LOL...

I have golden rod in my yard. This spring, I pulled up the ones I didn't want and left a few in the "right" places. I dont have lawn anymore so with heavy mulch on the beds, I dont get a lot of volunteers.

Fort Worth, TX

I started letting my goldenrod grow right after I discovered what it cost to feed my bees.

Oh, you guys! You've got my number, don't you?

It's not in my flower bed, so I'm happy to watch it and "root" for it.

Good idea Sybil!!!
