may have problem

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I have several brugs that the leaves are curling back. On one the leaves are getting thick and stiff and curling back. No bugs on these, do have a few whiteflies I just sprayed, but not on these.
Do I have a problem or not?

Check for mites. There may be webs on the backs of the leaves. You can hold a sheet of white paper under the plant and give the leaf a slight "flick" and the bugs should be visible on the paper crawling around. A magnifing glass helps see them. I use alcohol and water half and half with a drop of dish soap and spray it on them, be sure to get the undersides of the leaves. Do this every 3 or 4 days for 3 weeks and you should get them all.

I did check, but I do need glasses! Safer soap will get them, right?

Yes, Safers soap is excellent for mites. Follow the directions on the bottle and be sure not to spray it while the plant is in full sun, and get the bottoms of the leaves. I noticed a few mites on some I brought in. They weren't noticible when I first brought them inside, but I saw some webs yesterday.

Susie,

Glad to hear about the alcohol and water with dishsoap spray. I had not heard of this and I don't like the smell of Safer Soap. Thanks.

Susie,

Knock on wood, I've never had those things. By the way, I have an unrelated question that I'm going to email you about.
