Can anyone identify the appendage dipping into the water from the back of this Egret. Noticed this on several of the Egrets that I photographed. They were gathered at a beach area on Tampa Bay. Did not notice it until looking at the photographs. At first thought I had an Egret in front of another facing the opposite direction but on closer inspection found out that it is definitely one bird.
help identify
Some litter or waterweed stuck to its tail or to its back plumes.
It's a Great Egret.
