that is how this cucurbitacea is called here (Melão Nordestino). It is very rare. It is NOT sweet and people mashed the pulp with sugar or sweetner to eat them.
I wonder what it is? (correct scientific identification)

apparently your photo is one of the several varieties grown in Northeastern Brazil (States of Rio Grande do Norte, Ceará, Bahia, Pernambuco and Paraíba) .
