NH bird

My friend sent me this picture. I first thought it might be a juvenile Cardinal, but not sure....sort of fuzzy. Anyone?

I am no expert on crossbills, but I've been looking them up (see my post above). The bill here isn't real clear, but this sure looks a lot like the pictures I've been seeing of the male red crossbill.

This is a male House Finch. The streaking on the breast separates it from a Crossbill.
