Of what the parentage of hybrids are? For instance, what is a knightii, to be exact? I need a list of what is what, so I can track what to cross with what.
Is all this in the book that's coming out in the spring, that's finally being translated?
is there a list
Brugmansia candida "knightii" aka Datura knightii is a candida type double with single to triple flowers on a single tree. I believe it is a wild specimen or non hybridized specimen. Hope that helps. As for the others, I have not the foggiest.
I guess we'll all just have to start keeping excellent notes when we get a bit of info here and a bit there. thanks
brugman, so what i have been candida double white its actually knightii? the one i have mostly blooms double, although i have seen a single bloom or two, but no triples.
the leaves are fuzzy also.

Jen,
what you have is Candida Double White....Knightii is different....looks something like Species but Knightii is nicer...confused yet? LOL Check this for different Brugs.

wow, that knightii is a beauty! there is definately no mistaking the difference between knightii and double white : )
i get so confused with all different ones, so many are similar with just a slight variation.
jen
p.s. thanks gloria...i should have asked you to begin with.
Just read the above and think that what I have sent people labeled "double white" is actually knightii since it has the downy leaves, very soft. The blooms on mine look identical to knightii too. Now, what I need is a picture of Roter Volcana if anyone has one or a site where I could see what it looks like.
Thanks,
Shirley
So what is enchanted double white??
still got any Brugie??
Not until next year.......sorry!!
so close and yet so far away!! LOL...
what are downy leaves classified as?
brugie, im excited that what you have may be knightii. you sent me a cutting of it and it is doing great.
jen
Jen, Did you have any trouble getting it rooted? I had some problems with mine and only got two of them rooted. That is the only brug I have problems with at rooting time.
Downy leaves are the same as pubescent. I probably spelled that wrong.
tiG,
If both of mine are still living in the spring, I'll send you one of them. You will have to remind me though cuz the Senior Moments are getting closer together each day.

I will remind you of your generous offer, unless I luck up between now and then :)
brugie, the cutting is doing wonderful. i noticed today when i moved them back outside that i have 2 shoots coming off of it.
im even more confused now over the difference between fuzzy, downy, pubescent..yikes i feel really stupid about this point. im going to look at pretty pictures, lol
jen
now i am confused again, thought brugman told me double candida was the same as species!!!!!
Well, I'm in such a confussed state that I'm thinking about throwing my double out and buying the knightii just to be sure of what I have. :-)
oh brugie, dont do that!! the candida is awesome in bloom, and nothing beats the smell of it at night.
jen
Brugie, i think confusion is part of the attraction to brugs. i don't know anyone i don't think who has a brug they don't know what is or a bunch that were labeled wrong.... when i get sent to the funny farm i want lots of brug leaves and blooms to look at instead of basket weaving.
it in the smell got us all dazed and confussed well I know I am that way even with out the sent of brugs....LOL
Okay folks, I'll keep it, but now I'm on a mission!!
