I found this bug on my Milkweed.
It spent all day there.

Thanks so much.
I love its colors.

Great article. I guess the good news is that they don't cause problems to other plants.

I saw one today for the first time ever. It was on my white yarrow which is very close to one of my milkweeds. It's funny how things show up about the same time in a lot of different places.

Perfect timing, Dr. Thor. I logged in to look up these bugs that I found all over my milkweed.

I personally don't like them feeding on my MW seeds. If it is just a few I will tolerate them, but if they multiply too much I will thump them into a soapy water bath.

Not totally correct, they will feed on any plant that is in the same family, Asclepias. A few years ago, they found my Hoyas. There were mobs of them and I too thought they were cool looking. Well, it took a couple of weeks but the scars they left on the waxy leaves marred the plants permanently.

These days, I agree with Sheila and control them when they visit the Hoyas. They also feed on my Stapelia plants and damaged them as well. All are in the Asclepiad family.

Thanks for the warning that they are baaacck.... off to check my plants.
