I have just recently started seeing this grass coming up in various places.
I don't believe I've ever seen it growing anywhere.
Looked it up and I believe it's called Muhlenbergia schreberi.

The only comment in the Plant Files database indicate that while it can be a noxious weed, it passes for grass where you can seem to get Bermuda or St. Augustine going.
Before I transplant what I dug up this morning.... would like to get your thoughts.
I'm thinking about maybe testing it in the dog yard out back. so much sand out there. anything that isn't sand is not my enemy (lol)
Question about this grass....
I am very familiar with that grass even though I never knew it's name. For me, it's most outstanding characteristic is the difficulty in pulling it up. It is really tough and apparently drought tolerant. Ive never seen it cover a space, just spots here and there but I never tried to use it as turf grass, either.
Thanks. I'm kinda leaning toward trying it in the backyard. if it will transplant for me.
If you want to kill it, throw a piece of carpet over it. This is the fake bermuda ropey grass that spreads in runners over regular bermuda? Seeds in about october, 18 inch seed heads that vaguely resemble Bermuda? I called it ponytail grass when I found it in my front yard 20 years ago, never knew the species. I throw something over it to shade it out and kill it when I find it, because I am reducing grass mowing areas anyway, and it usually comes up in my garden
Looks almost like centipede grass...didnt have time to check what that is actually called. shake head- gotta go to work, sigh
