I see these birds often down at Sand Creek. I've been photographing them and telling people about the white herons I keep seeing. The first photo is what I've been assuming is a heron. Then yesterday, I saw several birds that looked like the ones I've seen, but are just a just a little different. I'd been told there were a lot of Egrets out there that day. Is that what these are? Or am I just confused?
CLOSED: White Heron?
Snowy Egret.
The 'several birds' could have been more Snowy Egrets, or (if they were in fields with livestock) Cattle Egrets - they have a more stocky shape than Snowy Egrets, with a shorter neck and a yellowish (not black) bill.
