I got a serendipity gift with my RU swap

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

I am so excited! When I was planting my daylily that I got from Covenant Garden, out came a small plant attached to a giant seed. When I removed the plant, the seed cover came off revealing a large pink seed similar to an avocado seed. I did not recognize anything about the plant or the seed.. After googling, talking to covenant garden, posting on Plant ID and googling some more, discovered it is a Burr Oak tree which makes some of the largest acorns in America, even 2 inches across! I certainly do not have room for this at my house but when I visited my sister last weekend, she and her husband have been trying to grow one. I have not talked to her yet but I know she will let me plant it there. Isn'tj DG just the greatest!!! Y'all know Ive lived a long time but I'd never seen a Burr Oak acorn. So Cool. Just thot I'd share. If anyone would like to see the photos, just hop on over to the Plant ID forum. It's closed but not too far down on the list yet.
