Hi, it's been a while since I've posted. I'll be posting my garden later, but I am seeing a lot of honey and bumble bees in my garden! Much more than usual. I live in a subdivision, so I don't think I'm that near a hive... Is this good or bad?? Good??
Robin
Honeybees!
I'd say any bee sighting are good ones!
That's very good!!
Bees good!
Bees very good. Bees move into your attic or something, drop me a private message. I'm a beekeeper
Ummm. We had a mild winter in Spring, do you see them crawling on your home or a tree nearby? You would recognize a swarm, they are flying and not on the flowers.
The pest from the North again...I talk to Texans so often at other forums that I have to peek in here every so often.
The house I grew up in had bees move in under my parents' front steps back in the mid 60's. They found a crack near the foundation and remained there every year until I left home and are probably still there (I should ask my brother).
We would sit on the front step only inches away from the crack and they never once stung any member of my family (very laid back bees I guess)...bonus my parents' fruit trees were always loaded every summer. :o)
Hi Ms? Pest. you watching our storms walk across the states today? Poor Okla! Goin to be rollin that way soon myself...
Hi kittriana
I was out a lot of the day but yes I did catch the heartbreaking news on the radio, t.v. (CNN) and at Storm2k http://www.storm2k.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=114958&start=580 (only scanned a couple of pages though since the news truly made me ill). Those tornadoes, that you folks normally have, are bad down there but this year's have truly become monsters: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sEqXpesgYg0#! This video is one that they picked as the most representive of the day that will go down in infamy.
Near my city had what they (the Texans at Storm2k) guessed was an EF-3 tornado dance in the fields last summer and I was so grateful for their commentary re it since I was at work without radio or t.v. contact other than their posts (they watched the storm chasers and let me know what was happening since our work computers aren't flash enabled).
Take care down there and keep your emergency radios (we aren't set up for that here) next to you always...

We were very cool this am which isn't going to play well with hot humid Texas/Oklahoma again today...may God help those poor people.

Severe/Tornado Outbreak possible this afternoon/evening over TX
Potential for long tracked violent tornadoes across N TX this afternoon and evening
SPC moderate risk for severe weather including tornadoes in effect for today for N TX
Multi-day severe/tornado outbreak continues to unfold this morning across the US plains which has already produced devastating results. Parent upper level storm system responsible for the daily outbreaks continues to spin over the northern plains with a slow moving cold front across OK at the current time. Air mass south of this front and east of the dry line is incredibly moist and unstable with frequent dewpoints in the 70’s and CAPES values of 1500-2500 J/kg. With surface heating, the air mass over N and C TX will become extremely unstable by midday with CAPE values approaching 4000-5000 J/kg ahead of the eastward moving dry line and south of the southward moving frontal boundary. Short wave moving out of New Mexico will help erode the capping overhead by early afternoon and expect explosive supercell development along both the dry line and cold front. Storms will go quickly severe with hail to greater than 2 inches likely. Initial mode will be very dangerous supercells capable of strong rotation and tornadoes given the degree of instability and shear in place. Current thinking is that the greatest tornado threat will be along I-20 including the Dallas/Fort Worth metro areas with a secondary threat along/west of I-35 all the way to west of Austin along the dry line. Best ingredients for potentially devastating tornadoes will be over N TX into AR and NW LA although the moderate risk outline does clip our northern set of counties."
"Ominous day for North and Central Texans today. We have a storm complex coming down from Oklahoma and boundaries are laying around from the dying storms last night. Greatest concern is supercells develop ahead as the complex moves closer especially along the I-20 and I-30 with large hail and more than likely some tornadoes during peak heating. I know there are a lot of anxious folks after seeing what unfolded in Moore. Have a plan, know where to go and what to do and make sure people around us are aware. My hope is we'll just have to deal with a line of storms with hail and straight line winds.
Well said, Ntxw. I am very concerned about how today's weather unfolds for those of us in Texas. I think those of us here who are weather savvy need to keep our family and friends and co-workers and fellow students apprised of the potential today for some really bad weather."

I'm taking computer backups and jewelry to the safe deposit box. Building an underground storm shelter this coming weekend but that isn't going to help me now. I'm in a pier and beam house.
Head to a public building for the day that has a basement......
Nope. If my number is up it is just up. Hoping anything serious holds off til I get the storm shelter built. My life is here. Bees, chickens dogs and cats. and gardens.
Gypsi? That is the mentality of those who are 10' tall and bulletproof. Besides, sometimes you take care of yourself in consideration of those left behind. You might go and the dogs are still gonna need fed and where are you! Happy, unaware in heaven and they are wandering streets lookin for you. Chuckl, take care
Risk has increased to 60% for those in deep South Texas (near Houston I gather)
That makes sense it's moving east. I didn't want what they had up north but I would have liked a little more rain. Maybe tonight.
it missed me, got a half inch of rain. I've got fair weather sense, I watch the weather but I feel the storms... Kept me alive so far. I do want the storm shelter. Hope to get it in this weekend. I felt the one that almost got here the other day and it was NOT a good feeling. It was a "time to build a shelter" feeling.
I am in agreement with Gypsi time for a shelter and I am not about to go off to a public shelter and leave my dogs
Gypsi-you got more rain then we did. I can feel storms too, I ache. I feel we should have got more rain yesterday! Lol
The man upstairs wrung out his bowling shorts over north Austin. Boo.
guessing those were some scanty bowling shorts... We need a lot more rain, all of us. Collin County and points north east did a little better, but their lakes have been lower than ours for a year.
Da man came and dug the hole for the shelter this morning shelter will come later today
Keep safe grits!
Hope to get mine dug this weekend.
Your puppies will love you both! You wont be leaving them behind!
