There was a group of these birds swooping around the Kestrel box. The Kestrels were occupied elsewhere at the time. Based on how they were flying, we figure they are swallows of some kind. Getting a photo was kind of difficult. Because it was a group, we thought Martins looking for a place to nest and this possibly a female. I am just guessing, I am not too familiar with Purple Martin behaviour. Do Tree Swallows travel in groups like this? There were several birds- maybe six.
We have a Martin house, still in its box, but we felt we have too many house sparrows to in good conscience put it up. Ah, but now I feel terrible if this was a Purple Martin group and we didn't have a home ready for them.
Thanks for your help.
