Are they only good for the following year after harvest. Is that correct?
How long do onion seeds keep?
I store onion/shallot/leek seed in my chest freezer, the seed packets in a plastic bag (zipper seal) with a package of desiccant I got from something I bought a while back. I've never formally tested the germination, but I'm getting over 50% on commericial onion seed that is 3 years old (harvested end of 2010, first planted from it in 2011, then 2012, now 2013).
Thank you very much. I was hoping the seeds would last more than a single year. I'm glad to hear this since I have a number of types of onions seeds to store.
