I've got quince in bloom!

Oviedo, FL(Zone 9b)

Just harvested my first bouquet of quince {chaenomeles} today. It's a very good year the three that I have in my garden are covered with buds and flowers. I have had to cut them back because they put up a lot of green shoots this year in addition to all the flowers. Love that quince!

Nice! Which types do you have? I've been thinking of ordering a Cameo.

These bushes are very old. They came with the property which we bought 30 years ago. My son and I dug the original bush out and divided it into three sections. My, goodness what a job that was! It was already old when we got here. It is the original red flowered variety. I would like to get a white one. I think of its flowering branches as instant ikebana. Apparently this past winter was just exactly the kind it prefers as there are many flowers on all three. The two at the top of the hill are almost full out and the one down at the bottom of the driveway is a little behind. But they will all be gorgeous.

Great to have plants that actually like our winters.

Quince is definitely one of those.

Enjoy! One of my neighbors has an old one with Coral colored flowers. I don't know them, but I was thinking of asking for a branch. I have no idea if I could root it or not.

I bought a quince at WFF's 60-70% off sale last year......it looks healthy, but not blooming......

I received one at MA RU last year, it's still in the pot...can't wait till it grows up and flowers!
