Does SC have wrens other than Carolina

Saluda, SC(Zone 8a)

I have a pair of birds building a nest in one of my boxes that has me puzzled.

At first glance it appears to be a pair Carolina Wren. (I have a pair that nest regularly under my house and in my shop) But it really does not sound or behave as a Carolina Wren does.

It does no have the jerky, perky tail movement and the song seem different. Tried without success to get photo.

Any suggestions?

House Wrens are in your area and are cavity nesters.

Here is the nest in the box this pair of birds have built. Made entirely of twigs.

A picture of a Carolina Wren's nest in my shop eves. I think this is the same pair that just raised a nest of 4 babies in a nest under my house. I had the opportunity to watch the family one full afternoon as they left the nest and moved about in the area around my yard.

Mrs_Ed, I think you are correct.

Photos of nest and House Wrens and sound bites on educational sites make me believe that I do, indeed, have another variety of birds to add to my nesting list.

The one thing now that puzzles me is, the nesting maps I find indicate that House Wren do not typically nest in South Carolina.

Thank you.

The first nest looks like a house wren, but the other is too grassy. Looks like house sparrow to me, they are messy builders.

Looks like you are on the edge of some of their nesting range according to allaboutbirds.org. Maybe he's practicing for when he comes north. hahaha.
