It is a Primrose for sure, there are many of them both yellow and pink. Yours is large so I think it is a Missouri Primrose

Well Jo thats definitely the same flower,not quite as dark yellow,and the leaf petals are somewhat wider than your picture,the way the wind blows here it probably blew seed all the way from Missouri!LOL
Yes, but that Primrose is native to Texas also, we just don't see it as often in the wild.
I have yet to see a blue bonnet yet,and I grew them in Wichita,but they didn't return after cold wet winter.
Those evening primroses come up all over my property. Guess they are the wild ones.
Mine are a much smaller plant,then the ones I bought and grew from seed.
