Hi, I could use your help please. Central Florida this morning. Towhees - I know there is a thing about rufous-sided actually being Eastern - but what I'm wondering is why I have three photos and they are a little different?
1 is definitely the male - eastern
2 is a female
3 looks like a female but has a yellow eye vs the brown on the #2 photo.
Any hints on why?
CLOSED: Towhees
1 - yep, adult male
2 - yep, female
3 - I'd say an immature male (~ 10 months old)
"I know there is a thing about rufous-sided actually being Eastern" – the former species Rufous-sided was split into two species, Eastern (in the east!) and Spotted (in the west).
Resin
Thank you Resin, I thought #3 might be a bit younger. Appreciate the help.
