Okay, I must admit what I did today. I went to my favorite nursery, and drooled for over two hours (!) at their newly-arrived Annuals.
I went there the first of this week, and thought that I would be a smart gardener-shopper so held off so I could check a couple of other places.
I was on-target with my first choice, and VERY surprised at their lower prices than competitors!
With the fond memory of last-year's Artist Ageratum (Castle Wall) Series plants in the purple color, which were the absolute best choice for their home in my front foundation planting, I went back, only to find that alot of this variety/color was already gone.
So too were the tall bronze snaps!
I chose, put back, thought, and repeated this over and over. Well, in my defense, I have such a small house, and want to do something different, but went back to the Ageratum.
I bought the Blue color, and also the orange plume Celosia (Castle Wall Series-Proven Winners) that caught my eye. They were affordable, too.
I guess that I will hold out until the last of this month for planting, when we have the last frost date.
Has anyone else gone through this long-awaited rite of Spring yet?
Have you noticed, I know it is early, but there is a much larger selection of annuals, but fewer plants of each color. Or is it my imagination?
Oh! The colors that are out there now...and those GORGEOUS Zonal Tangerine Geraniums...!
Annuals - Decisions, Decisions
SO hard to choose when they're all there! I could , and do, debate almost endlessly over a few packs of Pansies.
Last year my front area was lacking some bright color, I felt. I need something to accent my beige house,, dark green shutters, dark green magnolia, and its a flat yard with no 'foundation' so needs to be sorta low.
Zonal Tangerine Geraniums sound right up my alley.
I have a large pot on each side of the front door. Yellow pansies right now are great, and I hope they go till end of May, into June.
