Someone on here told me that fireplace ashes were good for your compost. Does that hold true for charcoal briquette ashes, too?

NO! wood breaks down clean, charcoal briquettes often have chemicals in them and possibly lighter fluid. Don't do it.

Natural, real wood ashes. Those Duraflame things are just as bad as the charcoal since they have some fuel for starting fires in them.
