You have all been so kind and generous to me since I signed up for the Round-up. I have been lurking the Texas thread for awhile and always enjoy your pictures and adventures! I have already learned so much!! I finally got around to posting a few pictures, so you can all see where your plants are going. Hope you enjoy!
The iris bed along the fence is all yellow, with one patch of purple. The plan is to fill in the gaps with COLORS. The climbing roses are covered in buds and will be showing off soon.
The mess by the shed is our next project. Although the birds love the brush pile, it needs to be replaced with bird-friendly shrubs. My plan here is to have a wildflower garden (mostly or all native) in the area between the two cedar trees, maybe with a potting bench by the shed. I'm always scheming. Need sturdy shrubs/perennials, though, because we have two big dogs that will be strolling through on occasion. Suggestions are welcome! It's on the south side of the lot and gets pretty good afternoon sun. We desperately need to mow....
The bed with the stone path is in the front yard. It has gotten the most attention over the last few years.
The bed next to the house just got a makeover last week. My hubby and I added the arch (garage sale find!) and expanded the bed. This will be a hummingbird/butterfly garden, outside our studio windows. Filtered sunlight here during the summer, so I hope it will work out. I think most of the plants from the round-up will go here and by the shed.
It seems I may finally be past my killing-everything-I-plant phase. I'm still learning a LOT! I've just been learning about natives the past few months and am eager to know more. As a native myself, they are the flowers of my childhood. I welcome your input and advice. Thanks!
Garden pics
Did we meet at the last RU? We should think about carpooling to the next one! I wish my brain weren't so fuzzy all the time!
Very nice pictures indeed!!!
The first thing our instructor taught us when I went to Master Gardener classes was: "Your success as a gardener is in direct proportion to how many plants you've killed. The more you've killed, the better gardener you will ultimately be." :~P So, see? You were just in training! Lovely garden photos...love the big studio windows!!!
I love that arch.

I should have a Phd. Lol
Then I would be a post-doctoral student!
Texas puts you in the fast paced program. You definately don't work at your own pace.
Thanks, everyone! I always hated it when plants died. I saw it as a waste of money and time. Ha! Now, I'll just call it tuition and semester hours!!
Man, I'm a life long student!
I like you path and border.
Carrie, this will be my first round-up. Sorry, but carpooling won't work for us. We'll be driving our pick-up and it will be loaded with food and plants. The park is only about 6 or 8 miles from us, anyway.
