tutorial

Lake Toxaway, NC(Zone 7a)

Is there a good tutorial on raising brugs from a rooted cutting? I have a lot of rooted cuttings that I will sell during Earth Day with the proceeds going to our local museum. I'd like to give a little write-up with directions for each customer. If any of you can guide me to one, especially here on DG, I could consolidate information and make it suit my zone. Betty I admirer your spirit!

Are you looking for info on have to get them rooted? : http://www.abads.org/abads/Rooting/

Or how to care for the brug cutting already rooted as a plant?

Since I have so many well-rooted and growing cuttings, I am looking for information to write a little hand-out on how to grow them. One thing's for sure. We are cooler here up in the mountains and they cannot take the shade that they do in other areas.
chrissy's first article looks promising. Thanks to the gal "down under."

I found 2 beautiful Brugs 6 cuttings and a red orchid tree that followed me home from http://trumpetflowers.com/info/getting-brugmansia-to-bloom.htm
Am ever so glad I'm in Zone 9. and so tickled to have Nicki for a new gardening friend.

Hi Sugarweed. Good to see you. I must have 75 cuttings from Cupid;s Blush, Phanomenal, Santa Rosa, Solid Gold, Dr. Seuss, Charles Grimaldi, Sunny Smiles, Super Nova Melon Kisses and Eldorado. I am selling them now at the museum but will soon begin to bring them home and start potting the best of them. I have more than I will be able to handle in my greenhouse as it is only about the size of a mid-sized bathroom.
I get $6 for the cuttings and more for the potted plants when we sell them on Earth Day in the spring. It's becoming quite a chore; this is the 3rd year.
I hope you are well.......Betty

Hi Betty, Good to see you too. Let me do some research and see which is what.
I got LBG, Flame, Sam, Day Dreams (2' tall), and Pink Perfektion (4' tall) Salmon Perfektion, and Pink Dragon. All cuttings except the 2 noted.
I am sure I can use a few more. LOL I have secret dirt!

If you compose your "secret dirt," please let us know the magic ingredients.

My secret dirt in Jacksonville was the corner triangle and in the alley, both city property. When we hosted the Super Bowl I built a 3 sided garden and even plumbed it with a system sprinkler.
Where I live now I can only plant in pots, but am getting ready to regroup the 50 or so planters with at least 300 plants so they are complementary groupings. It actually just came to me. I have roughly six large pots 6.5' Duranta tree, 2 hibiscus trees, then a vine about 10' long and 2 sizeable Brugs., one about to pop any day.
Anyhow finding a way to display them has been a quandary. One friend wants me to have two of everything and to mirror everything. What I'm going to do is position the six randomly and then add smaller plants in different heights around them. See if I can get the plants to pull peoples eyes around the patio and deck.
Last week my neighbors took all my plants and furniture off and power washed the deck. I then Thompson watersealed it inside and out. The water actually beads up! I will post pictures. I have to sneak new plants as neighbors think I have too many. My answer is if there 's room for a pot, why waste it?
Didn't mean to hijack this thread. I apologize.
Have a terrific weekend and come down to Lake Okeechobee. I'll take you fishing.

That is my philosophy totally! I must have 400 plants is my back yard. Some in pot and some in the ground. I love them. They keep me happy and I hope I do the same for them.
