That is commonly known as Asparagus fern.

I think the easiest way to propagate these will be by division or by seed. These will bloom and produce red berry like seeds.

Those root nodules retain moisture and nutrients for the plant.

Those are invasives- watch the thorns- and trust me, they propagate every which way it can be done with or without your help. Chuckl, they do look good in baskets, but the length of the 'ferns' can be longer than you are tall if given enough dirt and room awhile.
