today on my white yarrow blooms I found tiny, 1mm beetles, pale yellow with black spots looking like they are nectaring on the center of the flower or eating pollen. They were so small I could not tell. I picked one up and he flew away. Neither me nor my camera were smart enough to take a photo of him so if anyone has a clue, Id appreciate the help.
to those who grow white yarrow
I cant telll from your photo how big that bug is but it looked like that but so small like the size of the head of a pin. Yours looks like it has a snout or pointed head. I could not see these gus well enough to see that. But the dots and the color look the same.
They are cucumber beetles.
I have them. I also have chickens... hmmmm.
The cucumber beetles rather be in my flowers than on my vegetable. Lucky me.
If I find any of them in my veggies I just squeeze them.
Thanks, drthor. There were not holes in anything. Do they get bigger or is this1mm IS the adult size?
They are not that small. Not sure if yours are newly hatched but adults are not tiny bugs.

I have the worst luck with flea beetles, they suck the juices our of everything

The larva of cucumber beetles eat the roots of plants.
I have those cucumber beetles too. Don't see a lot of damage but then again if I was growing flowers to show in vases, I might see more problems...now I have other offenders to look for
It's the larva eating the roots of other plants that brought them to my attn. I couldn't figure out why my spinach plants were shriveling up and dying, and I could pick the plants up off the ground not pull them out.
