Went to the Gesneriad show at the Chicago Botanic Gardens today. I don't know how it compares to other area's shows but it was about as big as the Orchid and the Cactus & Succulent club shows I have been to there. I know nothing about Gesneriad shows but there was a decent amount of plants being shown but fewer than the orchid and succulent clubs. There was a decent amount of plants, cuttings and rhizomes for sale. I made out like a bandit on the Kohlerias and prices on them seemed fair and on par with what I see them being sold for online at nurseries and eBay. Overall it was an interesting experience for a Gesneriad noob like me :)
Here are a few of my fav plants and you can view most of the show plants on my photobucket account http://s1280.photobucket.com/user/chitownplants/library/2013%20Northern%20Illinois%20Gesneriad%20Show?page=1
