Door Prizes!
so how does doorprize work? does everyone bring a little something to put in one big basket for one person to win? does everyone win something from someone else? is there a $limit ?
gift certs from an online garden place? tractor supply? home depot?
gloves- super comfy's are men/women...which one ...or both
farmers almanac for this year, organic rabbit poo, seeds, tiny caddy for seed storage, plants, sunhat, necklaces for trees, reuseable water bottle/holder, graph paper for plotting where to plant stuff, seed baggies, tarps, bulb planting device (like a metal tube with measuring lines on it and sharp on one end and handle on the other), fun texas gardening book, field guide, flip flops (sizes can be screwy though),garden hose repair kit, splinter removing kit, thongs (for picking cactus), decorative rocks or shiny balls or something that can be cute in the garden, native fish like gambusia... like that kinda stuff?
Yes, as we can see the possibilities are endless, one important thing is keep it simple and inexpensive, also gently used items in good shape are very much acceptable.
Blissed, The door prizes are all placed in a big box or basket and when you give your doorprize to the basket the person in charge of door prizes will give you a number. Duplicates of all numbers are placed in a container. To begin, the door prize person holds up an item and the helper draws a number from the container and the person who has that number claims the prize! Two times I have received gloves that would fit a man so apparently that is no problem. Ive not heard a dollar limit but for myself, I keep mine to around $5.
Which RU are we discussing? So many are on the calendar!
No particular one. Just explaining to newbies how the door prize works.
blissed heart, where are you? I see Brazos Valley...
Bumping this up as we're getting close to the "desperate" last leg of the shopping season.
I got a GardenGate magazine and a $$ Gift Card to Home Depot from my niece!!!
She said, "Auntie Linda, As much as you hang out in Home Depot, this was an easy gift!"
It was perfect!!!!
jackpot!!! Merry Christmas, Linda.
My choir members gifted me, too!
I'm learning home canning and, this week, I managed to not mess up the jalapeno pepper jelly and the homemade cranberry sauce (my first home canning attempts).
And, since I had just bought some fresh beets, I rushed right over to the Ace Hardware store yesterday with my gift, and bought the last three cases of Ball Canning Jars for some pickled beets!
SCORE!
It looks like you are going to be a very busy Lady.
Good Job Kiddo!!!
^^_^^
Add to your list: herbs (dried or DIY) to make sachets and/or potpouri and/or to make infused oils. Oh, there are so many things to make with herbs and dried flowers. If you sew, unlike me, you can even make eye pillows. Maybe ask for some interesting bottles to fill with infused oils. Or ask or give an assortment of essential oils to use with the dried flowers. All of these would make nice valentines as well. Oh, heck. Who needs an excuse to give a gift?
Go Linda!! So good to see you over here, girl!
Steph,
I'm glad to run into the "oldtimers"! Seems like the traffic here has just dropped waaaayyy off...
Yes, everybody is busy with Christmas, I am sure it will get better with the new year.
It always slows down between Thanksgiving and New Year's. It'll pick up soon as it'll soon be planting time.
