We are getting heavy snow today, and I made the birds a cleared area to feed... even making a covered food and water station for them.
This fella showed up almost immediately!
We live in a third floor apartment and feed the birds from our balcony.
Central Virginia area...
He/she has small tufts of feathers just above the nares.
Thank you!
Karen
CLOSED: ID please - new bird at our feeders
Hermit Thrush.
Potentially tricky to distinguish from some other thrushes (Gray-cheeked, Swainson's, and Bicknell's Thrushes), but easy in March, as the confusion species are still in South America for the next month or two.

Wow!
Not one I would expect 40 feet off the ground!
But I guess the desperate times (snow) bring desperate measures!
Thank you Resin!

Yep, exactly! It will have been able to see other birds heading there, and gone to investigate.

He ate some peanutbutter suet, so I'm glad he stopped by!
:o)
