We have been off DG for several months and have really missed everyone. Have just returned Saturday, March 2, from spending two months in Houston at MD Anderson Cancer Center for Larry to have 39 proton radiation treatments for prostate cancer. He is doing great and would recommend that treatment and facility to anyone facing that diagnosis. It may seem strange to say, but it was a really uplifting experience. The support from staff and the friendships developed with other patients and their wives was fantastic.
We were afraid of what we'd find in our yard when we got home because it received absolutely zero care since Larry's diagnosis in September. But everything is sprouting new growth - even though the sprinkler system was turned off the whole time we were gone. I guess that is one more benefit of the majority of it being Texas native plants.
It is too soon to know if we will be attending the spring roundup in Arlington. There is an enormous amount of things I have to get caught up on.
Happy Gardening to everyone.
Glenna & Larry
Hello - We're back
Glad to see you back and glad to hear that Larry is doing better.
Hello Glenna and Larry, I am glad things are better for you and that your plants survived.
I hope you can make it to the swap, it would be good to see you.
Josephine.
Welcome back! So glad Larry's doing better and you're back online!
Welcome back. Isn't it nice to know the plants in Texas don't wait on us for their survival? They just adapt...welcome back guys and grats.
So glad you have given us an update. We are lucky to have such an outstanding cancer center here in Texas.Hurray for those natives!
I wish I had known you were here. My brother in law was treated there for leukemia about 25 yrs ago and he is being treated there now for renal cancer. They give excellent care for cancer and my BIL has done sooo well. (He worked at a company when he was young that used cancer causing chemicals.). They stay with me each time they come. Im so glad Im here and can do that. Im glad your hubby is doing well. I worked at MDA for several years and from every vantage point I have, they do a great job. My sister and he enjoy the good warm atmosphere too. Im glad your hubby is doing well. Welcome back. I wondered where you had gone.
Oh, Glenna! I missed this post (not on pooter much). So glad you're back and that everything went so well. I never stopped praying for you and Larry. God is so good. I had foot surgery in January, so I'm waaaaay behind, too. Still have PT three times each week (3 more weeks). It takes about 3 hours out of my day, since they keep me two hours some days and I live 25-30 minutes away.
Again, so glad you guys are home. Hope to see you at the RU.
