Central TX (and more) Spring RU First Look

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Oh my, it is February already, where has winter gone? With temps in the 70's, it is definitely time to start looking at planning our spring RU. I am willing to host at the farm again if that is agreeable, just need some suggestions for a date. March 16 is my sheepdog trial at HLSR, the 23-24 is a sheepdog trial at the farm.
How do y'all feel about March 30 or 31?

works for me.

Since no one seems to have a problem with the day before Easter, let's give it a go.

Days before Easter is NOT good for me...

ANY Saturday in April (except the 22nd) is good for me...

The only date I could do in April would be Sat. 13, or Sat. 27. I would be giving up a sheepdog trial for the 13 and I understand that Smockette wants to have one in the east on that day so the only other one available to me is the 27, or 28.
It will be getting kinda warm and would be the weekend right after North Central's if that is a problem for some. All I ask is that y'all save some plants for ours.

March is busy with sheepdog trials and events at the farm, so what do ya think? Would end of April be better?

Joy

BTW, if anyone needs a baby goat fix before then, you know where the farm is.

Joy, anytime is good for me. Im planning to go to Arlington for that one so not that day but any other is Ok for me.

Marty,
How far is Arlington from here?

Bryan, TX

I haven't been here in over a year. I don't remember what RU stands for but I'm sure I want to participate. Please let me know.

(Joy) Hempstead, TX(Zone 8b)

Arlington is about 3.5 hours or so from my farm. I wish some of the Dallas guys would make the trek down here.

RU stands for Round Up and is basically a get-together for folks here on Dave's Garden. People list all sorts of things that they have extra like seeds, plants, starts, pots, and other gardening paraphernalia and anyone wanting them speaks up and they pick it up at the RU. It is a great way to get new things for your yard. If you don't have any extras that is ok too. We have a pot luck lunch and door prizes. At ours, I offer chances to bottle feed baby animals, fish in the pond, throw balls for the Border Collies, and feed our geese and ducks. We look forward to meeting you.

I will be making Arlington. I take my Mom to those. I will also, be doing Mercer on May 5. & some where between now & May, I'll be doing Galveston Cty & Geo Bush Park.
You don't have to have a carload of plants for each RU. It's all about getting together, meeting DGers that you have been talking to in the Garden for months, & Lily Mae's Greens!!!
Count me in, you know!!! & probably Smock, too.
I like April 27 better b/c 3-31 is my Mom's BD & I have to go to FtW.
Will be bringing buckets(2 sizes) again, if there is any interest & also half gallon Blue bottles, if anyone wants some for there Bottle trees.

Linda if you want to go to Arlington with me, you are welcome. We would need to get together to plan how many plants we could each bring if we go together. I started out doing RU with those folk and I used to live up there so I feel a connection to them even tho it is far to drive. i think it is 4 hours from my house.

Marty, did you want this on our RU? I do need to put up a trade list,.

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, it's the same list I put on the other RU but I usually dont take something to RU unless someone asks for it. That way, I can fit it into my car.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Howdy Podnas (Padnas? Pardeners?)!! I've been very DG negligent and have missed everyone alot! I would love to come to RU but the day before Easter I'll be in New Orleans with family. April Saturdays all look clear at the moment. Just tell me which one and I'll be there (and maybe Mark too).

Here's some of those Grandpa Ott's morning glories I brought to the last RU. They are gorgeous!

So, Joy, are we doing 'goat fixes' on Apr 27th?
Apr 13 happens to be my BD but what is worse, taxes are due on the 15th & I may be snowed under if this yr is like last yr so the East RU is somewhat if-y & we haven't had that much interest in it anyway.
Steadycam, thanks for the offer but I will be going up & staying w/my Mom for 4-5 days. It is a monthly trip since my Dad passed. She always has a list of things she needs me to take her to do. This month is her Driver's License.
:~)
