This bird has just now started coming around our Hays County, Texas home. It doesn't seem to fear us and is interested in the old, unoccupied barn swallow nest that is above our door. The top knot is not always there. I'm showing two images: one with the tuft and one without. We'd like to know what the bird eats and its habits, etc.
CLOSED: Can anyone identify this bird?
This is a Black Phoebe. It's in the flycatcher family and is always on the move.
Thank you so much! It's a delightful bird and it's nice that we now know what it likes to eat and its habits.
It's an Eastern Phoebe, not Black Phoebe - Black Phoebe has a black throat, not white as here. Similar food anf habitat requirements, though.

Sorry Crabmeat, I should have looked closer.
