One of my hens - I think a Silver Laced Wyandotte - lays funny rough eggs. They look like they have tiny beads stuck to the outside. Anyone else seen this ? The other egg is from a Red Sex Link who lays huge eggs.
Odd Eggs
I have the same exact egg issue. I found that if I up the oyster shells I put on their feed, the crusty eggs get better. They were also a little bloody at times so I think that crustiness is causing damage when she lays. I haven't figured out which hen it is but I do have a silver laced wyandotte so it could be her.
I also have gigantic eggs from a red sex link. I've never seen such large eggs - they are definitely larger than the jumbo size from the supermarket! I wasn't positive it was her but had strongly suspected it. Sounds like confirmation if yours is also laying those huge eggs.

my silkie lays eggs with a ripple on the end.
This same hen or one of her Wyandotte sisters lays wrinkled eggs too. I shouldn't think it is a dietary deficiency as the shells are not thin or extra brittle and none of the other hens are laying distorted eggs.
I gotta weigh mine & post the pic! Very similar. I don't put 'em in egg carton 'cause they are just way too big & risk breakage if something is set on top.
I just did that for the picture; they definitely do not fit in even a Jumbo carton.
I have the same type of photo. Shot it with a dozen store bought "large" and it was a hoot to see the contrast. I've never had such large eggs before!

The contrast eggs are probably also at least extra-large; that is a carton sized for "Jumbo" eggs. By the time they are one year old, most of my hens are laying eggs larger than super-market size - not as many as when they were younger, but definitely bigger.
That' a pretty impressive difference. Both photos.

I weighed the eggs today. That red sex link giant egg was 4.3oz today.
Most of the others are 2.3 or 2.4oz. The little bantum's egg was 1.2oz
and one of the larger bantum's egg was 1.9oz
Amazing difference in sizes!
