I read that Veronia don't need a cold stratification for germination, is this true? I have some seeds and want to try to grow some. I also read that ironweed has a poor germination rate and is slow from seed. I am not sure if these facts apply to this species though. Anyone growing ironweed from seed? Or, this species in particular?

Vernonia lindheimeri v. leucophylla
I have two small plants that i grew from seed, but they are very slow, I can't remember if i winter sowed them or not.
