Jen, what happened? Did you lose one of your most prized brugs? I certainly hope it isn't worse than that. I have been back and forth from the kitchen to DG all day and just thought maybe everyone was getting ready for winter or something. I miss all the pictures and questions since that is how I am learning.

Hope I haven't been insensitive.

Hi Gloria!!

Shirley

I'm with you, Gloria and Jen. Do you think they're having another party and forgot to invite us, again?

no brugie, not a brug this time...my cat got out saturday night sometime and we couldnt find him...
i finally found him late yest evening in a ditch in front of my house. we buried him late last night.
i never knew that losing a pet could be so painful!!!

Gosh Jen, I'm so sorry. We had that same kind of thing happen here years ago and I said that we would have no more pets. Well, our 16 year old dog left us last year and we have another one in the house. Of course, we are gradually pushing everyone out with the brugs. They are growing so well, I'll be cutting them back in a couple of weeks, AGAIN!!

S.

I guess since everyone has chopped up their Brugs...except the folks in FL....there isn't much to talk about except cuttings and white flies. :)

Pam...It sure has been quiet here...not to normal.

Shirley....I'll check on Jen.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh Jen, I'm very sorry!!!! I know how hard it is, I lost my scottie back at the beginning of summer, and it was awful :(
(((Jen)))
I'm in the middle of plastering my bathroom, what a job!!! Trying to keep up with the news, Dave's and all my plant babies.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG,

Have 11 of 15 seeds germinated at this time. They are looking good and strong. Will hang on to a couple of the strongest and then LOOK OUT friends and family!! They will need to have homes. I can't keep them all. Of course, this won't happen for a while.

Thanks,

Shirley

Jen, I'm soooooooo sorry about your cat. I lost Toonce, after 18 years with him, in the summer of 2000. Carried on about it until Mom put me in the car and took me to the cathouse, where I got Bruce, my euro burm. Four months later, I got Winnie, his sister. They are a light in my life, but I still miss Toonce. People who haven't love pets don't understand how we grieve for them. I mourn for you. Pam

Jen,
Jessie Noel is well worth the wait...the flowers smell grrrrrrreat.....can smell them all over the yard.....supposed to be in the 80's here by weeks end.

Glory,
I too took cuttings, saved some like the Dr.Sues and Solid Gold though and a few aurea hybrids outside to see what happens as this is their first year outside up this far north. These were all started from cuttings mid spring. My Roter Vulkan is going to brave it outside as well. Took a few cuttings from most everything I wanted to keep though to root in pots just in case.

Ohhhh, sorry about your kitty, Jen. I had to have my mama cat put to sleep a couple years ago, she was 18. Lived a good life, tho, never sick a day. And, she liked me best. :>)

Does anyone out there have a cutting of "Butterfly" that they would be willing to part with? I'd pay money, postage, whatever. I saw the photo in that link, it's just gorgeous. No more brugs outside here in the tundra zone, leaves gone from trees, and it's gettin' colder. *sigh* I need to live in zone 10!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Anna, I think butterfly is one a lot of us are after!! :) hopefully, crossing my fingers here, I will have one and may possibly have some cuttings in the spring. possible, hopefully!!! LOL!!

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

MsJwn, my deepest sympathies to you in your loss. How tragic. my thoughts are with you.

MD &, VA(Zone 7b)

glad to hear that weather forecast Glory, I will be leaving here Friday on my journey!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Tig,whata ya mean hopefully??? We wait with baited breath...

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

LOL, it's agony waiting to see if they do come!! :)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I also have it (Butterfly) ordered for spring shipment. So, again with the hopefully bit, I will also have cuttings for people interested. Have some others ordered that really interest me as well. They are L'Amour, Tropical Sunset, Goldtraum, Herrenhauser Garten, Tiara, Cypress Gardens, and Angel's Dream. I'm sure you guys have already got most of these, but I just started with brugs three years ago, and have barely touched the surface. I hate winters and having to wait to get the new stuff!!

Shirley

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, put me on your list for Angels Dream and LaMour...please please please please ;)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG,

When my brugs are ready to take cuttings, I'll personally email all my present traders first and will then post to anyone else that wants any of what I have. You will be notified with the first group. How's it going otherwise? Hope all your babies are doing their thing and safe for the winter. We are getting ready for a thunder storm right now, so I'm going to hit send and shut down for a while.
Have a good one!!

tiG, I'd love a cutting of Butterfly. Since I "only" have 4 plants, more are welcome. I've gotten a friend all enthused about Brugs, so am giving her some of what I've been sent. I know she'd LOVE a Butterfly. :>)

Everyone would love a Butterfly. Luckily I was able to get one last spring - haven't seen a bloom yet but am dreaming about next spring. Lámour - now that's what I reallllyyy want. All those European sites are so tantalizing. It looks like they might just open up to us in the spring.
Catalogues will be available to www.monika-gottschalk.de in December.

Monroe, WI(Zone 4b)

Liz, where did you get your Butterfly brug? Is there a brug catalogue out somewhere? I can't believe there is a plant catalogue published that I don't get. Jeez, the mailman was having a cow about all the magazines and stuff we were getting, told us to get a bigger mailbox. :>)

Anna Z - it came from Hodnik late last spring. One person's advice I'll take is Brugmansia's. Last spring he said Hodnik and I jumped in. Never underestimate the power of a woman with a computer and a credit card. LOL

If all else fails folks, go together and order those two from LBJ. That is where I ordered mine from. Butterfly and L'Amour. I'd love to get some of the ones from the wonderful sites from overseas, but don't know how to go about it yet. If it is easy to order from Hodnik's, let me know via email what I need to know.
Thanks......

Please send me the Hodnik's info also. I'm kind of stumped ordering in a language I don't understand. Poppysue sent me their list and could make out a few colors but nothing more.
Thanks,
Pam
