Help with siting these plants

Houston Heights, TX(Zone 9a)

Those of you who grow lyreleaf sage, can you tell me "where" you planted it. N, S, E or W and what plants did you site it near? How much TEXAS sun can it take?

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

I like it best in part shade, full sun is too much for it, but it is very nice.

Thanks, Josephine. Ive seen them growing in the wild and none ever looked as good as those Sheila posted a while back. The foliage was lush and green and the blooms were large and healthy looking. Do y'all fertilize them?

I just use compost along with the other plants, and of course mulch to hold moisture.

That's kinda how I treat most things I grow. Right now they are growing in pots as I have up potted them since the RU to larger and larger pots. What kind of flower "neighbors" did you give yours?

The flowers bloom on long stalks and the leaves themselves are low-growing, so you can plant them behind some fuller flowering plants. I have mine in shade on the north side of my house.

Thanks Steph. I like to know what actual people in Texas heat actually do with a plant that works. Thanks everyone.
