Found this spider in the house not long after I came back from Florida and it was near to some stuff we'd just got out of storage from Florida. When I tried to catch it it curled into a ball and dropped to the floor then just stayed there curled up??
A harmless orb weaver - looks like Araneus diadematus, a species common on both sides of the Atlantic.
