Tadaaaaaa! A full compost bin! I'm going to try to turn it every three weeks, so I can have finished compost asap. I look forward to the three week mark with fear and trembling (well, not me--just my back).
My finished compost is in the tile bin. I was wondering if I could plant something in those holes for my fall garden. lol
Can I plant spaghetti squash in these holes?
Congratulations!!! that looks great.!!!
Yes you could plant squash in the blocks, but they would probably run rampant through the compost, and with winter approaching they probable wouldn't last long.
If you want to plant now you could plant something that is winter hardy, like Kale, Swiss chard, spinach or garlic.
Of course it never hurts to experiment, we can learn a lot that way.
Josephine.
Thanks, Josephine. Maybe I'll do the garlic. Should I just plant one in each square?
Yes, you don't want to crowd them, and I think they will do well.
Wow! Looks like you grew a fine dog out of that compost already! LOL! Mine would be rolling in it.
You could also alternate with a winter hardy flower like a pansy. That would look cool with Swiss chard or kale.
Have fun!
