Just now getting my plants ready to bring in "somewhere". We went from 83 to 43 in the last 48 hours. My hibiscus (3 very large pots) have wilted like they were dry. Checked and they have more than enough moisture. Same with my three citrus trees. Have never had to bring them in this early. Are they in mortal danger?
hibiscus in the cold
43 degrees isn't mortal danger--could just be a bit of shock from the big temperature change but I expect they'll bounce back. Unless it actually got quite a lot colder than 43 and you had frost, then they could have been damaged.
No frost. This is more than a month in advance of the average frost. My 6x8 "greenhouse" was crushed in the snow storm of 2010. 2011 was very, very mild. Have a design but haven't as yet gotten anyone to build the newest house for protection. sigh
