The Color of Fall

Arlington, TX

Yellow seems to be the color of fall in my garden. With hours of hard work to do, today I just enjoyed taking a few pics and making a plan for an extensive fall garden cleanup.
some yellow plants:
willow leaf sunflower (thanks to Josephine, I love it now that I see the flowers)
dogweed seeds blooming again, they were all over in the spring
papery seeds of desert zinnea, hoping to have seeds to sow and share

Clemetis texensis has been broken off twice and still keeps putting out a few lovely red blooms.

Purple skullcap is all over the place but pretty. If they survive I might try them in a drier bed.

I have been pulling up hyacinth bean seedlings all year but this one managed to get a foothold. Not a native but pretty at a time I need something purple blooming. Next year there probably won't be any as I find them fairly aggressive and extremely large vines.

Cheryl, I don't have the Clematis texensis, could you save me a cutting in the spring?

Arlington, TX

I can try but its a small plant and I don't do much with cuttings. Dmail me with some instructions?

O.K. I will do it later as we get closer to that time.

Cheryl, that hyacinth bean is pretty! I tried to grow those once or twice up North but never could. (Not gonna blame the plant necessarily.) I know folks do grow it as an annual successfully, I'm just not one of them.

Nice blooms! There is some pretty purple and pink among the yellow.

Very pretty, Cheryl! I love yellow in the garden.

My Clematis texenis is more blue/purple than red but with the same shaped blooms. Are there variations or was mine incorrectly labeled? Love your photos,Cheryl!

It sounds like your clematis might be Clematis pitcheri

There are a lot of hybrids but the actual species should be redish and not purple.

I have some of the hybrids: Princess Diana and Duchess of Albany( can't you tell the English are busy with hybrids?) which are pink,
