I didn't know what it was, am not familiar with it.
Its deep south Texas, Hempstead area- everything grows, dunno abt native, but after the drought....the fires....everything is crazy here- multiple growing zones piled on each other... was new to me tooo
kitt.,
I see you often post pics of natives you find on the road. I have been looking for a source for this plant for several years. Have you come across it in TX or other SW states? I even had a member from Germany Dmail me last week who is also looking for a source for seed or plants.

Kitt: That app that I posted the other day, Leaf Snap, is looking for "citizen scientists" to volunteer to send them photos to add to their data. It was made by scientists from Columbia University & The Smithsonian so, right now, their inventory is all North Eastern varities. It would be nice to add lots of SW trees too. If you're so inclined, go to their web site and volunteer to send them photos from your travels; you sure get some good ones.http://leafsnap.com/
I doubt you would find a source simply because it isnt that scarce as a weed in the areas it grows. My problem is time, I often question my sanity when I review my pix- definitely an optimist here. Have I seen them? sure, tho I personally lump them in with nightshade and popball plants, and natives or naturalized- the seeds will lay dormant til weather suits them- years may pass! I will think on this
