September Blooms
Stunning Stephanie!!!
Very nice, Marty!
Beautiful hibiscuses! I love their flowers. The shorter Mex. petunias are the Katie's variety, blue and there is also a pink one.
Sweet pics! I have taken some just need a nap worse right now. LOL!
Great pictures, Stephanie! No doubt our plants are going to love the rain (and cooler temps) headed our way. :-)
Carla
Mine are definitely enjoying the cooler temps already! Now they're enjoying the rain. :)
.Hope you got more than we did Carla....it teased us. Maybe tomorrow we will get another chance.
We only got a very light sprinkle, I am so disappointed!!!
We are getting rain now....YAY!!
stephanie - do the 4 O'Clocks have a scent? They look so heirloom like, they must smell good!
The cooler temps have stimulated blooms here!
Purple Bougainvillea
Not sure what this vine is called, but the Orange Trumpet flowers are starting
Richard Wallace Cannas
Another Bitsy Dahlia is starting
Those are truly magnificent Morganc!!
It looks lovely, Cheryl!
Stephanie, I love my cowpen daisies too! One little daisy given to me this spring has turned into a huge daisy convention! My hummers and butterflies are loving it.
Somone at the spring RU gave me this vine and for the life of me I cannot find the tag. It appears to be a sweet pea, I have a pic of the pod, but I have never had one that is this huge. And this is the smaller one.
My arbor is full of blooming coral vine, purple hyacinth bean, and this pea.
Lots of things have really put on a show with the rain and cooler temps!
Red hurricane lilies in full bloom
Spider lilies
The bees were all over my frostweed this evening! As one would fly off, another bee would land. It was so fun to watch. Also had some kind of small moth on it, but couldn't get a pic.
Yes, the frostweed is attracting a lot of bees lately.
The Gray Hairstreaks are covering the Frostweed here, and the bees too of course.
It sure looks like the frostweed is doing its job of feeding the polinating wildlife.
Josephine, I've absolutely fallen in love with the Frostweed and the Ironweed!! They both really attract the bees, especially the frostweed. I hope it gets cold enough this winter to see the frozen "sculptures" on the frostweed.
The goldenrod I received from Sheila at the Spring RU is starting to bloom. I love it!
Autumn Joy has started blooming...on the first day of Autumn (yesterday pic)
Drummond's Aster has such tiny blooms! Mine also flops, which is somewhat disappointing.
Gulf frit caterpillars on my passiflora foetida
Stephanie, you are doing so well with the native plants, I am really proud of you!!.
Ditto what Josephine said!!! Looking great, so glad your foetita has cats, I think the wasps were feasting on mine this year. I am at war with them to protect my butterflies. Grrr! I know they have a purpose, but only God knows what that is!
Sheila, you make me laugh! Stephanie, your flowers look great. The monarchs are enjoying the butterfly weed. I love this time of year. Somehow the colors look so rich.
morganc, I love your pics of the night blooming cereus. When I lived in Austin we could always tell when a bloom would open, so we would put a ladder up next to the hanging basket so we could watch the flower slowly open. And what a magnificent scent! Are you aware that there are many different varieties of cereus? We had one with true cactus spines but the flowers were red. We also had one with a yellow bloom. Sorry I don't have pics of any but the white ones. You must have done well to have them bloom in just 2 years time. Many take longer, esp. the red ones. But the more blooms you have, keep an eye out for really unusual moths that frequent them.
tx-flower-child - Was your plant outside year round when you lived here? We've been putting it in the greenhouse over winter, but if they can take cold, we'd leave it on the porch. I thought 2 years was a long time to bloom, but I marked it down as probably normal since I only started with a leaf cutting. But a red flower like that might be worth the wait. The good news is we have 3 more little flower buds....yay!
And are these the moths you speak of? They come for our Moonflowers too.
