Just wondering,

Our new cat referred to in "cat food" post, was caught scratching on the upholstered furniture. Oops! We want to nip this one in the bud before it
becomes a real issue. Yes, he does go outside and no, I have never seen him scratch on a tree trunk. Any ideas short of having his claws removed?
Should we have to take that route, how painful is the recovery? and how long before he is back on all four? Thanks. S.
